Introductory Statement

Shoto Karate Australia (SKA) provides a high quality self-defence program based on instruction in the Japanese martial-art known as Shotokan Karate. SKA does not focus on teaching ‘how to fight’ but instead concentrates on developing situational awareness and techniques for defending oneself.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide martial-arts training to all ages in a fun and safe environment as a way to learn self-defence and build confidence, fitness, strength and invaluable life-skills through the discipline of karate.

Vision Statement

SKA teaches participants awareness of their surroundings and how to defend themselves in potentially dangerous situations, in addition to developing skills, strategies and confidence to handle all forms of bullying.

Values

SKA is based on the Japanese Shotokan style of karate with a fusion of various mixed martial-arts. Founder Sensei George Chahda (3rd Dan) has over 30 years’ experience in martial-arts, personal training and teaching. All SKA instructors have ‘Working with Children’ accreditation and are First Aid trained. SKA is a family based club with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
